Intro & New Features Bauer’s Colorado skates are a great option for those looking for a comfortable, warm recreational skate with hockey-style blades and feel. To achieve that ideal fit, the Colorado skates use various comfort-specific designs in the construction, including an insulated comfort liner, an anatomically molded shell, and a pre-sharpened blade. The skates also have a clean, slick design that’ll go well with just about any outfit.
Skate Fit Profile The Colorado skates have a medium volume fit with a Regular width and come in the following sizes: JR1, JR2, JR3, and JR4.
Boot Construction & Stiffness Profile The boots were inspired by both hockey skate design and everyday boot design, which is what makes them so comfortable. The synthetic leather collar is built for comfort and to help stabilize your ankles, and the anatomically molded shell wraps snuggly around your foot for support while not being too tight.
The Colorado boot is softer and more flexible than a conventional skate to make them easier to skate in for skaters of all levels. However, these skates are not recommended for play in hockey or by particularly strong skaters, as they can break down easier.
Liner & Internal Padding The comfort liner on the Colorado skates is insulated to keep your feet nice and warm while skating. This liner is also well-cushioned, so your feet can avoid suffering from that soreness that tends to come with new skates.
Tongue The tongue has been foam reinforced for both increased comfort and protection against lace bite. The tougher, synthetic leather front piece further keeps your ankles protected from minor impact and the cold.
Steel/Runner/Profile The steel has been pre-sharpened, so it’s quick and easy to get on the ice right away. If you’re ordering these skates online, it’s still recommended to stop by a shop to get them checked/sharpened however, just in case they received any nicks while in transit. The holder is built for recreational skating; if the blade becomes too thin or breaks, the entire holder or skate will need to be replaced with a new blade.
Toe Cap The Colorado skate uses a standard toe cap to fit the size of most skaters.
Lacing System The laces are closer in similarity to those found on standard boots; they are rounded, unwaxed, and thick. These kinds of laces are still good in snow and against the elements, and they are also tough and resistant. The top eyelets are D-ring style for easier lacing and a more stylish design.
Insoles The insoles are insulated with a comfort liner to keep the footbed both soft and warm, no matter whether you’re using them indoors or outdoors.
Graphics The Colorado skates have a sleek, black matte design across the shell with a few brown highlights and a silver Bauer logo. Some of us in the shop noted that the shell design gives off a vibe that is similar to the Konekt goalie skate, but with a design closer to winter boots rather than ski boots.
